A series of wood walkways, or skywalks were designed to connect to the narrow concrete patio as view exoskeleton. The walkways hung near the edge of the property that overlooks the LA basin view, a skywalk view served as extra space to the narrow yard as well as lent cityscape views for summer evening dining. Since the property sat at the edge of a large dry brush open space slope, specific slow burning fire-rated composite timber was used. The plant palette to the property edge also acted as a fire break barrier filled with slow burning CA natives such as ceanothus, manzanitas, and succulents. A common practice we now use in firescaping.
