The Mid-century modern glass walled home opened to the rear yard view of the hillside sloped Santa Monica Mountains. A need to create architectural interest for the backyard entertaining areas that center around the courtyard lap pool. Renovation of native and regional vegetation was used to create heat zoned appropriate landscaping with structured architectural elements of textures and contrasting hues, using regional grasses and agaves. A small hillside orchard was added with olive and lemon trees bordering the hillside slope to incorporate interest for poolside dining and viewpoints from the house.
