CREEKS, BRIDGES AND PATHWAYS
CONNECT TWO FAMILY GENERATIONS TOGETHER
The request was simple, join two family generations together, by allowing access through the dense sage scrub slope by connecting two properties together. The upper resident requested safe low-graded pathways for her young grandchildren to visit from their house below. The grandchildren dreamt of adventure with bridges, winding pathways and a creek to run through it. Well thought out design process was taken to both respect the existing ecosystem, and to add to the natural water systems. The Creeks would be designed to serve as a functional stormwater catchment system, as well as a water feature that weaved in tandem with the ascending slope trails . Specific plant palette vegetation was selected to offset any soil erosion from construction by restoring the slope with native trees and plants characteristic to the coastal sage scrub environment. The owners final wish, for a pondless waterfall ending near the newly outdoor constructed entertainment room.
